Engagement Pictures with Personality!

 

This engagement session took place in downtown Ft. Worth, in the Sundance Square area.

We just walked around and not only had fun, but found awesome places to stop in front of and snap a bit.

 

How COOL are these piano stairs!? The groom is the one who had this idea! The stairs are hidden inside, so unless you know they exist, you cannot see them from the street. The people working here were kind of iffy about us shooting, but they just said to do it quickly! SO glad we were able to shoot there!

YES! Super star groom! He was up for anything! And because of that, the pictures came out all the better. I know that typically, it is hard for guys to feel like themselves in front of the camera. Usually when a couple has their pictures taken, or even in other cases, like with family pictures, the man in the family is not too keen on the idea of being photographed. But I'm telling you, if you are able to relax and have fun, and most of all, let your personality come through, the pictures are 100% better. The photographer can adjust the angles and lighting and use their artistic eye and technical knowledge, but it is up to the subject to let loose and make the pictures shine!.... (so no pressure, men! Ha!)

 

 

This was fun getting this shot. Their wedding date is the 23rd, so we saw the numbers in the parking garage and had one stand by the 2, and the other by the 3. Then I just put the pictures together!

 

Lastly, we went on top of the parking garage and they danced as the sun set...

 

 

 

San Antonio Photographer!

No, I'm not moving...but I'm always open for travel!

About 6 weeks ago, (yes, sadly this blog is that behind), Stuart and I had plans to travel to San Antonio to visit my cousin. It occurred to me that while I'm there, it would be a great time to be able to photograph in a new city. I posted a blip on my blog about an available session time in SA, and 30 mins later, I was scheduled to visit S & P for their engagement session.

We had their session on a Saturday evening, so the carriage rides were out and about downtown...

This couple just oozes cuteness, down to their toes.

I must say, P did quite the amazing job with the proposal. S was in New York City with her dance team (she is a high school dance instructor). She and the girls are shopping, they walk towards a cafe, and oh...what's this? P is SITTING AT A TABLE! (She had no idea he was there. She thought he would be at home in Texas!) He greets her, then pops the question, right there in front of all of the girls on the streets of New York. How special for them that New York City will always hold a precious place in their Texas hearts.

*(And I have to mention this because this is more cuteness - so S is a high school dance instructor, at the same school (where they met working), P is the band director. How cute is that? The dance teacher and band director are getting married...everyone release the collective 'aww' of sweetness!)

After walking around downtown for a bit, S & P changed and we headed to one of the gorgeous missions in San Antonio just in time for sunset.

He adores her.

Texas Landmark

Meet one of my best friends, Jennifer, and her fiance, Josh. They are getting married this October, but one year ago, at this very spot, he popped the question.

They have a tradition of going to the fair every October. It was the locale of one of their first dates, and they love returning and reminiscing. Well, last October, 6th to be exact, a nervous Josh, in the sweltering midday sun, proposed to Jenn while paddling on the swans in the pond. (Jenn tells the story a little funnier sweeter than that...how shortly after they arrived to the fair grounds, even though it was pretty hot out, he insisted on riding the swans, but an aloof Jenn thought it would be a better idea to wait until the sun goes down and cools off, but in his nervous persistence, she relented. Then of course they had the whole rest of the day to bask in the engagement high while dining on corny dogs, and riding the ferris wheel.) I love that this Texas landmark now holds an even more special place in their heart as their proposal location. And, their wedding reception will be in the fair grounds at the Texas Discovery Gardens!

So I, the dutiful matron of honor that I am, wanted to use one of my fun cards for the invitation to the bridal shower that the other bridesmaids and myself are putting on. But, with my cards, there is an opening for a picture, so I asked her to email me a picture of the two of them. She sent me two pictures - one was from 4, maybe 5 years ago, and the other was from their vacation in Paris (years ago as well!) with strangers passing by beside them. No, no, this would not do.

Well, my husband and I happened to be seeing the Dave Matthews Band in Fair Park this day, (I'm a bit behind on my blogging...), and knowing how much history they have in Fair Park, and needing a picture of her, I last-minutely emailed her to see if she and Josh were available to meet us before the concert, and they were! It worked out perfectly!

So we had a little mini-session, and a really good time. It was fun getting to photograph good friends, and in a location I have never shot in before! It was a little adventure.
